Aquarium pumps and impellers
Maintaining your Aquarium Pump and Impeller
Our Power Heads and Internal Filters have a single moving part, the impeller. The impeller is a short cylinder with small paddles along its length that push the water through the pump.

(1) Water intake
(2) Mechanical filtration (coarse)
(3) Chemical filtration
(4) Biological filtration
(5) Return cleaned water
The Impeller should be regularly cleaned and inspected to ensure there are no blockages. Regular cleaning and maintenance of the impeller ensure maximum flow of the pump and longer impeller life. If the impeller becomes worn or damaged it should be replaced - before the damaged part causes serious permanent damage to the pump.
Oxygen is a vital ingredient to a healthy aquarium and aquatic life will benefit from a greater oxygen content in the water than most would find naturally in their native environment. In addition filtration system performance and overall water quality will be greatly improved by boosting the oxygen concentration.
We offer two different types of air pumps that are both exceptionally quiet and will not disturb your fish.
SR Air Pumps
The precision SR range of air pumps have defied the odds and become an institution that the aquatic trade refuses to let go of. Available in outputs of 150 through to 1900 litres of air per hour they cover most requirements of today's average sized aquariums. The main features are the extreme quietness in operation and reliability.
HP Air Pumps
These are ideal for the larger tanks to operate multiple air stones or indeed for multiple tank setups. The HP pumps are extremely powerful yet surprisingly quiet and supply reliable air delivery even in continuous use.
